It's now official - Susan and I were recently awarded and NSF grant to fund the development of this project! You can read more about it here:

http://www.nsf.gov/awardsearch/showAward?AWD_ID=1319700&HistoricalAwards=false

The award currently covers the upcoming year, and depending on our results will cover an additional two.

Thanks! It will be very nice to have funding for some PhD students and undergraduates to work on the site. :)

Nice news! What exactly you want the that-way-financed people do? And where is the money in the moment coming from?

Hi Travis,

that is an great message! Sorry, that I wasn´t here for a long time... :( Some thinks are new, and really better than before, you and the outher workers had made a great work, ans this is your payment. :)

So, I have an question, runns the application stable, now? My idea is to write an better app, with anouther algorithm. (I now that this is hard, but we must show all video´s, by auto-sorting out the video´s, who are to dark...) Is there any way, to build an GPU-App?

Greetings and congratulations to all from Germany,
Aurel

Actually, on the computer science side there currently wasn't any money (so I've been doing everything myself). Susan had some grant money awarded from USGS and ND Fish and Wildlife to help with the video collection.

The grant will fund a PhD student and undergraduate student (for each of us), my plan is to have the PhD student work on the computer vision algorithms and boinc applications (GPU versions included), and the undergraduate to work on web page updates and things along those lines.

If you need help by the GPU-App, I could help. We are planning to write a GPU-App for NF@H.
The best way is, to write two versions. One in OpenCL and one for CUDA. I´m writing .po-files for translation, too.

If you want I can write german .po-files for this project. We should discuss it per PM.
