In the watch.php and watched video pages I've added the animal id/nest id before the video names. This might make some identification easier.

I'm also working on a new version of the watch video page, hopefully in the next two days it'll be ready for you all to look at. If you like this better than what we have currently we can swap over to it. The idea is to show the entire videos (which range from 1-4 hours) instead of the 3 minute video clips, and let you add observations for time periods in the video, eg. a bird was present from 0:15:23 to 2:31:25, etc. This will make validation a little trickier, but I think it should make determining if a bird is present or not easier (as hopefully they'll be long enough for there to be some kind of action showing the bird there or not). I'll keep you posted as I get it all worked out and ready for testing.

I'm willing to try the 1-4 Hr Videos, but if people can't get or mark a 3 min Video right me included I don't know how you expect them to mark a 1-4 Hr Video right. I'll try it but if I feel I'm just getting Invalids I'll just drop out & let others carry on ...

Well in a lot of cases if you watch a 3 minute video and the bird isn't moving at all, there will be a bit of disagreement as to if it's there or not -- but in the longer videos there's more chance of seeing the bird move (either leaving or coming back to the nest), or shuffling around. So you'd be able to know if it's there or not, when in a lot of the 3 minute videos it's just guesswork.

It would be great to have the possibility to search for this ID at the watched video pages. And I want to be able to see the name of my video right after I clicked on "submit". This way I can copy&paste and search for this video very easy after I notice I've made a mistake. Otherwise I don't know for what it is useful?

Well, I'm not very happy if it would change to this since I mostly don't have the time to watch an entire hour on one piece, so I think I would be out on this then. Would it be possible to let them both run, the small and the long ones?

I agree, I have a hard enough time holding my Attention to a 3 Min Video even running it at 7 Speed (30 Seconds) on Chrome. 7 Speed is actually pushing it & running on 9 is out of the question, your just asking for Invalids running @ 9 or using the Slider especially on the Tern or Plover Videos.

Running 7 Speed the Chicks at times can just be a Blur on the screen that can be missed & 9 or using the slider you can miss them completely. I'd like to see both myself because I just don't see how somebody is going to hold their attention on a 40 Minute Video (4 Hr's = 40 Min using 7 Speed on Chrome) & then if it's a little too Dark the whole 40 Min's you've just wasted your time & end up just taking a guess like you would with a 3 Min Video.

For me 95%+ of the Videos are plain to see what going on & 3 Min Videos would suffice for me. I think with 1-4 Hr Videos some people are just going to buzz thru them with the Slider & may miss things & end up with nothing but Invalids anyway in an effort to get a bunch of quick credit ... IMO

You have to consider the Download times too, at times even the 3 Min Videos take forever to completely download. I hate to have to download 4 Hr's of Video is speed are slow at the moment ...

While I personally would significantly prefer 1-4 hour videos, I definitely support having both systems available, there's no reason not to give the best platform to as many users as possible.

"Streaming" video means you can start watching before completely downloaded!

Four hours IS a little bit loooong :)

And close to a third of a gigabyte of bandwidth used.

The watched video page would have to NOT pre-load all five videos. I only get ten GB per month on my dish plan.

Yes I know that, but if the video is downloading slowly you may have to watch it for over an Hr or more, nobodies going to be able to keep their complete concentration on a video that long ...
