Account linking should be working again. If you want to link your Citizen Science Grid account to your old DNA@Home or SubsetSum@Home account, please visit the Link Accounts webpage. Let me know if you have any issues. |

Looking into this -- although it might take until tomorrow as I have to catch up on some course material as I've been traveling for the last couple weeks.
Hopefully have a fix soon! |

Travis, is there any reason you can't just automatically link / create accounts for users who had data at the 3 other projects?
I think it would be a fairly simple case of linking via the cpid in the databases and I see it no different as to the creation of founders when a boinc team wide import is done.
I ask, because I'm about to deprecate the older projects at Free-DC but this will cause users to lose credits who have not yet linked the accounts.
Perhaps the onus is on them though.
If you are somehow missing the data to be able to do this automatically I can probably provide it from my database.
Thanks

+1
Half of my team that has credits with one of the three projects has not yet linked them.... and probably will not until it's too late.
We will loose team standings on all 3 of these projects unless this is done by cpid automatically.
.... and they will all snivel & whine loudly.
We all depend on DC's listings to guide us in decisions like voting on PotM.

Perhaps a group e-mail can be sent out to those users that have not created a Citizen Science Grid account yet and linked their other project accounts to it, advising them what to do.
The projects were down for awhile and a lot of people probably have not checked back to see what is happening.
If it is easier to just do what Bok has suggested and create the Citizen Science Grid account for them, as in Boinc Wide Teams, an e-mail should still be sent out advising about the new account and what they should do to link their accounts together.
Just a couple of thoughts on the matter.

Hmm, that's an interesting idea although I'm not quite sure if I can automatically create accounts for people here on CSG based on what I have in the other databases. For example, I don't know their passwords and if they used different email addresses I won't be able to determine who does and doesn't already have a CSG account...
I'm hoping once SSS@Home gets back up and going I'll just be able to finally retire the pages for those old projects completely, and sending out some last warnings. I should work on a script that could send out a mass email to everyone with SSS/DNA@Home accounts reminding them to join up here. That is a good idea. |

Passwords should be fine, when the founders are created from the team wide import, we always have to use the feature to reset the password anyway.
As for multiple email addresses, I would hazard a guess that very few users would have different email addresses across those 3 projects. But just treat them as separate accounts here I would say and deal with it later. |
