Well, according to some answers in this thread I was reinforced in my original opinion and decided to not make the accuracy badges.
If you really want them you probably find someone else who can make them, Travis. Sorry...

I personally feel that since this project is still in alpha stage, badges of any kind are inappropriate. They drag in the badge hunters who are then understandably pissed off when the rules change out from under them.

I really doubt the current marking process is finalized yet. Neither is the current validation process. Probably not even the current viewing process. As this project matures and the viewers/project leaders develop a system that works for everyone, then we can think about badges.

Until then, I think we should drop all of the badges so that we can focus on what process changes need to take place to make this a good experience for all concerned. Only then do we want to start attracting the badge hunters.

I've fine with waiting on accuracy badges until the project is out of an alpha stage. The validator does need some more debugging and I'll get that updated over the weekend -- it was the first week of classes so I haven't had any time the last couple days to work on things. Luckily my classes this semester are tuesday/wednesday/thursday so I'll have long weekend to devote to the project, which should hopefully keep things humming along smoothly.

I do want to keep the credit badges for now though because I think they're a nice addition to the site, and we could use some more users (even if they are badge hunters). For the most part I think the credit numbers people have shouldn't change too drastically (even as I update and fix the validator). For the last validator update the changes to awarded credit seemed to be under 5% between old credit and new credit, and I expect the next update it will be even smaller.

I don't think this is a big problem because most of the badge hunters are only there for CPU/GPU-crunching (like Gandalf the Grey and Sun Badger which recently asked for work). The majority of them probably hasn't even enough time for earning a bossa badge anyway. ;-)
And as far as I've seen from the ranking since the introduction of the badges there aren't that much newcomers which also watched many videos.

Yeah, and I didn't want to have done a lot of work for nothing... ;-D

Doesn't matter to me one way or the other, at the rate my Accuracy % is dropping in a few days I probably wouldn't qualify for a Accuracy Badge anyway ... ;)

Travis, it looks like you dragged the transparency out of my png-badges, why?
They now show up white in the badges stats everywhere, that doesn't look good... :-(

Edit:
I see some other projects did that also to their badges... hmpf.

What do you mean? I just linked them as images... I shouldn't have changed anything. Maybe something weird is going on with the pages CSS?

I doubt it was something Travis did. You might complain to the person who is responsible for generating the badge stats.

Edit: although I see they are now back to normal.

Sorry, looks like I was a bit rash in posting, the problem seems to have been on the stats sites, it's fixed meanwhile...

Hi guys,

Seems the official Badge Description page is not stating correct information: I received the Bronze Badge for 10 000 seconds, not for 7 200.

Cheers and NI!

I just looked at the top bird watchers page, and everyone above 7200 has a badge. What page was not displaying the badge?

Sometimes it takes the project webpages a little time to update, as a lot of the default boinc pages use a cache which is updated every 5-10 minutes.
