I doubt your going to get many to go much over 1 Million if even that much, most people simply aren't going to spend that much time watching Bird Videos ... IMO

You may be right. My original plan was to reach the Million and stop watching too. But if badges are reachable in an affordable amount of time I think I'm going beyond.

I agree with Eric's observation. You can put any number of cores to crunch WUs but only one pair of eyes to watch videos. You can speed up the videos but, with the Plover at least, anything beyond 3 and you can miss important details so this only really works with the "too dark" stuff (with the grouse 5 sometimes helps to identify movement as has been suggested elsewhere). I strongly suspect that any predators of sharp-tailed grouse have long since died of boredom or become extinct waiting for it to do something interesting... like move. This means that the credit schemes used with Primegrid or other Boinc projects won't work particularly at the higher end. I see no reason why there shouldn't be a 10k badge and I don't think the highest badge should be much beyond 5 million at the moment - you can always add new badges with a different design later as they did with Primegrid.

Ste\/e wrote: I doubt your going to get many to go much over 1 Million if even that much, most people simply aren't going to spend that much time watching Bird Videos ... IMO That's normal. Most users are testing a project for a while - especially on credits - and when it's okay they either stay or leave. But then some still stay because of hobby, like the purpose of the project or whatever... Some hardcore crunchers (or -watchers) are always there. ;-) PinkPenguin wrote: This means that the credit schemes used with Primegrid or other Boinc projects won't work particularly at the higher end. I see no reason why there shouldn't be a 10k badge and I don't think the highest badge should be much beyond 5 million at the moment I have to disagree on that a bit. Too much badges would kill the purpose of it too. A little more effort for every kind of badge should be needed. That is the point on every project - even when it's not the same to watch videos or simply "crunch" them. That said, I won't go there to make some more to fill a wide range between "only" 5 million. I know, that is already much and needs a lot of time to watch, but the highest user already has almost 2,5 million. Sure, it may take a while even for him to reach the 5M, but there still should be some things "higher in the air" because this is or will be a long-life project. Because of the last posts I rethinked the last list and made a few changes, maybe it is a little more appropriate for those who think badges should be earnable in a reasonable amount of time: ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() And last but not least: ![]() If I'm still here when someone reaches 10M I make ten crosses and send him 10 real bird feathers and eggs as a present, LOL. Any chance of something to crunch, my toes are getting cold ? (Please send chocolate chip cookies to: The Pink Penguin, c/o Shackleton's Hideaway, Cape Royds, Ross Island, Antarctica). Strange picture of a pink penguin in your profile, doesn't look quite like Antarctica. And does the Goliath Corporation deliver those cookies to your home, wherever that may be? Regarding the bossa-scheme for the badges: Looks fine with me! ____________ Grüße vom Sänger ![]()

Looks like no one has any objections anymore, so the bossa badges can go live then also. Travis, go for it. ;-)

EDIT: I Hooked a 21" Monitor to my Laptop that I've been using to watch the Videos. I was getting 10%-15% wrong because the Videos were to hard to see, but with the 21" Monitor things look clearer & I've a easier time with the Videos ... :) ____________ ![]()

I should point out that Pink Penguins are masters of disguise... And a good disguise always includes the background (have to make it look good otherwise Goliath wouldn't deliver the cookies)... ;-) Nice work on the badges and thanks for all the time you've put into it.

Thinking of using the round ones previously posted in the topic, though if you guys want me to use the feather ones, I totally can. :) The round ones are for the normal credits, the feathers are for the bossa credits! ____________ Wildlife & SubsetSum Badges-creator ;-) Mod/Guru @ the german team BOINC@Heidelberg My BOINC-Stats / My Badges

Thinking of using the round ones previously posted in the topic, though if you guys want me to use the feather ones, I totally can. :) Oh! Good idea. :) I'm also thinking it could be cool to have some "special" badges -- one for the person with the most watched video, one for the person with the highest correct video percentage, etc. And hopefully Rebecca can also get the Bossa Credit showing up in the forums as well.

I'm also thinking it could be cool to have some "special" badges -- one for the person with the most watched video, one for the person with the highest correct video percentage, etc. Well, I don't know if that is really needed, but for the case it is that is someone else's job then. ;-) I have no idea anymore for other badges, and the remaining feathers I have are for later to extend the rankings. I'm also thinking it could be cool to have some "special" badges -- one for the person with the most watched video, one for the person with the highest correct video percentage, etc. Problem with either one of them is Who ever starts out with them would probably forever have them. Maybe it could somehow be set up on a revolving 30 Day Basis, in other words every 30 Days it would reset for the last 30 days, if that could even be done.
