Some users have mentioned badges for watching video and crunching workunits. Since I'm not a graphic artist but if any users wanted to submit some potential badges I'd be happy to use them. :) If you want, post suggestions here!

Hmmm. I'll bite. Could I suggest that some BOINC WU's be generated? Kinda tough to earn a badge for crunching with no workunits. :-)

Well, actually the focus of this project is still watching videos, not crunching WUs. So please stop "complaining" about that, there is enough work to do here. ;-)

I could make a whole variety of tiny pics such as

Looks good, this could work for the bossa credits.
I also had an idea for both kind of credits but the pictures I tried for this look very bad when they're small and Google doesn't give enough suitable examples for further experimenting. Plus I'm no great artist as well, so I guess I have to pass on that.

Hey Steve, this is the first time I met the "badge hunter" himself (yes, I know you a bit ;-)) directly in a forum, so if I appeared to be rude to you I apologize.
I set "complaining" into quotes and put a smilie after the sentence. It was a little meant like a joke and besides that not directly to you at all - more to everyone who hasn't watched any video yet. I know that some crunchers are out there who doesn't want to do anything else beside crunching but we could need more watchers here. ;-)

I'm working on an updated application at the moment, so there should be more workunits in another week or so. Been busy analyzing the results of the last batch.

Workunits here are somewhat secondary to video watching, as we're trying to come up with computer vision techniques to automate that analysis (which is a very hard problem). So workunits get sent out when we come up with new techniques or approaches to try.

I experimented a bit with a new pic and this is what I made:

It's a 36x36 pixel pic and doesn't look very impressive in my eyes, would be even worse when made smaller - I guess it needs to be a bit smaller when I look at all the badges in my sig.
Of course if it is something you guys can think of I would made some more colours for more credit levels.
Edit:
Since I'm out of another idea this would/could be taken for both sorts of credits (if we don't get another sort of badges).

I think there should be different badges for both sorts of credits because thats we way we will make the people watch the videos instead of complaining about non-existing WUs.

@Doctor Now: Maybe your pictures will be better if you use a stronger contrast? The contours seem to blur with the gold/silver.

Contours of what? Of the bird or the border of the circle?

Edit:
Made the border a bit darker, how's that?

Both.

How's that?

Seems to be better but in my opinion it could be stronger. What about making the birds just black without the details? This way Your colored background looks great.

Ok, good idea.

Hm, don't know if I can do that, they are already dark pixels. Will try it later...
I made some more versions now with other found bird silhouettes including yours and made it 28x28 like the WCG badges:

I must say it looks a lot better with only black as before. This could really work.

WOW, I didn't know 1 little remark about getting more Wu's constituted Complaining, I guess we can throw out the right to Freedom of Speech at this Project.

Maybe we shouldn't have any Badges at all, that way there won't be any Complaining on somebody's else's Design of a Badge ... :P

Not to worry. Nobody says you can't complain about the lack of work units on this project. Freedom of Speech is still alive and well here (such as it is).

I did a little tweak to see if the borders are getting a bit bigger or darker but at this size it doesn't change much anymore.
I don't know what you guys are thinking which of the three would fit best, if at all, my choice would be version 2 - and I think it would/could be a badge for the normal credit system. I then would make it in different colours.
Lemon, how about your pic? Can you make that for the Bossa credits?

Well, I already stated that I'm not a good designer in earlier posts, but since no one else came up with some ideas yet (except for Lemon) I did. And we won't get real good ones since my team mate Cori isn't in BOINCing anymore (afaik she never made some badges anyway, only logos).
What about your idea? You said, you have something, why don't you post it?

I was thinking along the lines of a Feather, it would be something different, you could have different Colored Feathers too for the level of Credits or ?

But your Design looks good too ... I'm surprised Cori dropped out of BOINC, I knew her when she was running it ...

I was thinking along the lines of a Feather

I see, something like this probably? A good idea, probably worth for the bossa points - or vice versa, as the community decides.
Of course I will make my badges in different colours. I'm thinking of the PrimeGrid range and probably make it similar, but this will take a little more time.

I'm surprised Cori dropped out of BOINC, I knew her when she was running it ...

Who didn't know her? ;-)
Well, was a slow leaving of her, first she didn't post much anymore in our team forum and later she didn't crunch anymore. Well, things change...
Maybe she comes back someday, crunching is a passion at least. ;-)
