BOINC supports automatic compression for up/downloads. Is that feature turned on for this project? Since these downloads are so large, I think it is worth double checking.

The videos are already compressed by their encoding. I could try turning it on to see if there's any effect but I think it would likely be minimal.

I think that there is nothing to be compressed because they are videos and sometimes if something can't be compressed the final size of the compressed file is bigger than original but not much.
